Sunday afternoon Ben helped me cross an item off my October Bucketlist! We had some errands to do in the morning and then I thought we were just going to relax around the apartment. After breakfast and a shower I put on an old tank top and jeans with some tennis shoes and we left. I didn’t do my hair or makeup because I thought we were just dropping some stuff off at GoodWill and then going to WalMart. After WalMart I realized we weren’t going home and when I asked where we were going he simply said, “You’ll see.”
A week or so ago I mentioned that carving pumpkins would be a fun date night. Smart guy that he is, turned it into two dates by taking me to a pumpkin patch!!
We went up to my favorite part of the big city… the part that makes you forget you live in a big city. There are trees and fields and it’s absolutely beautiful. If you follow me on SnapChat you saw what I’m talking about when I posted a video of our drive up there. There are pumpkin patches all over up there, news to me, and there were people everywhere. It was the first time that we’ve done that drive and there was more than three cars on the road.
Finally picked a pumpkin patch, which turned out to have three different areas full of pumpkins to choose from, and started our hunt. I don’t know if it was because there’s so many options up there or because this was the earliest in then season that I’ve been to a pumpkin patch in years, but it was nice to have lots of options. Normally I feel like they are pretty picked over by the time I get there.
We walked around for about a half hour before we both found the perfect pumpkins to take home. Then we had to wait in line to weigh and pay for them. Have you ever heard of a Snake Gourd? Yeah, I hadn’t either and I was absolutely in awe of these things!
It was fun to get to share something that I truly enjoy with him for the first time and realize that he loves it just as much as I do. Apparently when I text him and told him that I thought it would be fun to carve pumpkins and said, “we don’t have to go to a pumpkin patch, we can just get them at WalMart or something if you want.” he laughed at me. I sure do love this man and can’t wait to carve our pumpkins next weekend!
