I was in Idaho last week visiting my family and celebrating my Grandparent’s 50th wedding anniversary. It was so much fun to watch them visit with friends and family that had all gathered together to celebrate such an amazing couple. They are the old people who still hold hands and always kiss each other goodbye. When I look at them I can’t help but smile and hope that Dennis and I are that affectionate to each other 50 years from now.
My mom worked so hard at pulling this whole thing together and she did an amazing job! She was in charge of decorations and cake. Since your 50th anniversary is the golden anniversary my Mama went with a gold and white theme. She was able to find most of this stuff at the dollar store and the rest belonged to a friend who has an event decorating business. Their local Albertson’s made the cake for $30! My Grandma’s sister made the cupcakes and my aunt made some other goodies for everyone to snack on. My Uncle was in charge of music and I pulled together the slide show.
When we started talking about their 50th anniversary I told them that while I was in town I wanted to get a picture of them holding their wedding picture. I’m so glad that we did because I think it’s an amazing picture! They didn’t actually cut the cake at the party, but I made them pretend and they were good sports about it.
Before all the guests started arriving we took a quick family picture. Believe it or not this is only 21 out of 33!! Some of the family couldn’t make it and the rest were running late and said to just take the picture without them. I’m really hoping that sometime we will be able to get EVERYONE together and get a good picture of all of us.
My family is crazy, but I love them more than anything. There is never a dull moment when you get all of us together and I’m so glad that I’m able to get pictures to help remember all the amazing times we have. I’m grateful that I was able to make the trip to celebrate these two amazing people. Without them, none of the rest of us would be here.
