I love when my birthday is on a Friday or Saturday! This year we went to Azteca for dinner then we went to The Branding Iron, a local country bar. We had decided to go all out and wear cowboy hats but we couldn’t find any that didn’t cost a fortune so we decided to just go without. Patty was only able to go to dinner with us which was a bummer, but it was still a great night!
There is an old guy that goes to the Branding Iron every weekend all by himself. He just kind of hangs out and asks pretty much every girl in the bar to dance. Normally we try to avoid him because we aren’t very good at the whole country dance thing and we just don’t have the heart to tell him no. Well last time we were there Brandi and I decided that we wanted to learn how to two-step so I got on YouTube and found this video. I think they do a really good job of giving you the basics. So on Friday night the guys were set on making each of us girls dance with this poor old man. I figured that I might as well just get it over with so I decided to just go ask him and it actually wasn’t that bad! Let me tell you though, I was really glad that I had watched that video. It was nice to have a little bit of confidence in what I was doing. Who knows, maybe some day I can talk my husband into doing to some dance classes.
The fair is always the week of my birthday. Last year we spent the whole day there with Paul, Brandi and JMan. This year Dennis had to work until 5:00 on Saturday so we just met up with them after he got off work. Andrea & her hubby were there too which was fun. I’m the kind of person that loves doing stuff like the fair with lots of friends. What can I say, I love to build memories. Rather than just walking about the whole time we decided to go to the rodeo which was a total blast. Every night the fair at the rodeo has a different theme. One night is always “Tough Enough to Wear Pink” and the night we went was Red, White & Blue. A guy jumped out of a plane with a huge American flag and they recognized some local heroes. Naturally I was in tears by the time they got done, but over all it was an amazing way to start off the rodeo and we all had a great time.
Sunday night we had a BBQ over at Brandis house then everyone loaded up in cars and we went to the last baseball game of the season. It was fun to have the whole group together. It got a little windy and cold but they did fireworks at the end with a killer grand finale. Not a bad way to end the weekend if you ask me!
