I’m getting married in nine months. Crazy how fast time is flying by. There are lots of things that come with weddings. Traditions that people expect when you tell them that you’re engaged. Bridal shower and bachelorette parties for instance. I’ve only been to a few of both. I had both when I got married before. I think they’re fun and a great way to relax with your girls in the middle of all the crazy wedding stuff.
After I asked Patty to be my matron-of-honor we started talking about both. I knew pretty much right away that I didn’t want to do a bridal shower. I had one before and while I had a great time it was more for my Mama and Grandma than for me. I didn’t want my friends to have to spend money on one. Plus, why should the bride get two parties when the groom only gets one?
We’ve thrown a few ideas around for the bachelorette party. We’ve talked about lots of options and she told me to let her know what I wanted to do. We had talked pretty seriously about going out to a local country bar, but the more I think about it the more I want to do something low-key. I’m talking wine tasting, a spa day or something like PaintNite. I don’t want to hurt feelings by not inviting a whole bunch of people, but I kind of would like it to just be the girls in my bridal party and myself.
What kind of bachelorette party did you have? Do you do something other than a girls night out at a bar? If you could do your over, what would you do differently?
