Hey hey, I’m Alyssa and I blog over at Babies, Bloodhounds and Booze, Oh My! I’m a writer, business owner, mother and I guess do it all-er. I write over at I’m mom to my toddler, Audrey and a stinky bloodhound named Tara. I’m very excited to be guest posting here for Kelly.
Christmas time is here. Happiness and cheer. Fun for all, that children call their favorite time of year. I would have to completely agree with those words. I absolutely love this time of year. It’s so fun to spend time with my family and watch the kids light up as they unwrap their gifts. Now that I’m a mother, it’s even more enjoyable for me.
Last year was Audrey’s first Christmas. I didn’t think that at 9 months she would be as excited as we all were. Oh wow was I wrong. She was the most excited. Watching her pull paper apart and dive into the boxes to get her new toys. It was definitely a beautiful site.
When I was a little monster, my parents made Christmas the best time of the year. We still continue those traditions to this day with my family now. Christmas Eve was for us. Every year I hear families upset that they didn’t get any alone time with their kids because they had too many people to see. My parent’s didn’t like that they couldn’t hang out with me and watch me with my presents. So they decided it was time for a change of plans. Every year, someone new gets to pick out a movie that we go see in theaters. Then we go to Papa Murphy’s and pick up our calzones. Go home, get in our pj’s, and eat our dinner. Then my mom pulls out her famous, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Cheesecake, or as I like to call it, dessert from God. And I stuff my face with it. Then we get the presents handed out and enjoy the fun.
The holidays are all about spending time with your family and remembering that Jesus is the reason for the season. After we finish up at my parents, we go home and put little monster down for a nap. Then come midnight, you can find us at mass singing Christmas carols and worshipping the Lord. I am glad I have these traditions with my family. We will make sure to continue them as she grows and we add to our family. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays
