Happy hump day all! In case you’re new here or just confused, the second Wednesday of the month I update you on our wedding planning adventures. I’ll share what we crossed off the list during the month before and set a few goals of what I’d like to get done over the current month. Let’s take a look at what we gone done during January!
Send out Save-The-Dates
That’s only about 1/4 of the save-the-dates we sent out, but that’s not the point. The point is that I actually got these out before the deadline I had given myself! I’m telling you, breaking down my to-do list by months has saved me so much stress!! What I really enjoyed was that once they started arriving in people’s mailboxes we started getting tagged in pictures on Facebook, text messages and SnapChats sent to us of people with their save-the-dates. My favorite? Seeing that it had made it’s way all the way across the sea to my blogging bestie Laura.
Pick a Hotel and Set Aside a Block of Rooms
We knew that we were going to need a large hotel to hold all our out-of-town guests. Especially considering everyone on my side of the guest list is from out-of-town. We set up an appointment with a large hotel just down the street from our house to talk about setting up a special rate for our guests as well as take a tour. Neither of us had ever been in the hotel and we wanted to make sure they had nice, clean rooms. Not only do they have amazing rooms, they gave us a special rate of $30/night off their normal price.
They also showed us a room for all the girls in the bridal party to get ready. This is something that I had been stressing about because I wanted a nice place, but didn’t want to have to pay a fortune to rent out a banquet room for a few hours. They had the perfect space with a private bathroom, they’ll bring in full length mirrors, let us bring in our own food/drink and keep us stocked up on clean glasses and ice all for just $100!!!
I left our meeting with the biggest smile on my face. People have already started book rooms and since my bridal party needs to be there a day early, but their husbands don’t, we’ve decided all us girls are going to share adjoining rooms the night before the wedding. This will give us one last change to be together before the big day and help keep the hotel costs down for everyone.
Book Hotel for Wedding Night
Deciding what to do for our wedding night wasn’t very hard. We had a gift card for one of the nicest hotels in town and knew we wanted to put it towards a room there for our wedding night. Deciding to upgrade to the honeymoon suite wasn’t the original plan, but we figured why the heck not. We’re going to leave the reception before everyone else anyway so we might as well spend a little extra money and get a nice big room to enjoy and relax from an exciting day. Plus, their checkout time isn’t until noon the next day so we don’t have to rush to get up and leave.
Start Diet and Exercise Routine
My family started a get healthy challenge mid-January and while I wish I was kicking butt on it the truth is that I’m not. I don’t know what my deal is. I am eating better, but I’m not working out. A for effort right.
Goals For February
- Register for wedding gifts
- Research honeymoon spots
