Hey guys! When Ben and I decided to move in together we decided to redo the master bedroom. I didn’t think he would want my pink and gray room. No, I didn’t get rid of that stuff, I just put it in our spare bedroom. I have a new-found love for teal so I was ecstatic when he said okay after I suggested we do gray and teal. I wanted to do mainly gray with accents of teal so that when/if we decide to change colors all we would have to do to is change the few accents, not red-do the whole thing. Thanks to Christmas presents, and a little retail therapy this weekend, I was able to pull it all together on Saturday afternoon!
I started my search with our bedspread. I knew that I didn’t want to do chevron again so I took to Amazon to see what kind of bedspreads they had. The second that I found this one I was in love. It was the perfect shade of gray and doesn’t have too much white. Ben’s parents got it for us as our Christmas present and I’m pretty sure I screamed when I opened the box. It’s actually a duvet cover so they got us a down comforter to use with it.
I considered doing another splatter paint canvas to hand above the bed, but didn’t really like the idea of having one in every room of the house. After about two months of trying to decide what I wanted to make to go above the bed I found this pin on Pinterest and loved it, but wanted to make it a little different. I found these letters at Hobby Lobby so I bought them (when they were 50% off) and painted them.
Lamps and pillows were the last things I bought and the hardest for me to find. I had originally found these lamps at Hobby Lobby and was absolutely in love with them. The only problem was that they are $60 and I’m to cheap for that. I’m a firm believer in not spending a fortune to decorate my house. Since I wasn’t in a rush, I was able to wait until I found the next best thing. Walking through Walmart on Saturday I saw two of these lamps (sorry I can’t find them on their website) on the shelf for only $15 and instantly snatched them up. The pillows were a pack of two for $12, also at Walmart.
My dresser is easily one of my favorite pieces of furniture. My parents found it at an estate sale last summer for $65. I bought some new hardware and had a local furniture shop paint it. It’s exactly what I had been looking for and was unable to find.
A few more little accents and it was good to go! Jessica got us the Live, Laugh, Love signs that I put above the window and I got the “I Love you always forever” sign from Hobby Lobby. Other than having our TV on the dresser, I have one of my favorite pictures of us framed with some fake flowers and a Scentsy warmer. Less is more in my book and I’m absolutely in love with our bedroom. I just wish that I got to enjoy it more than just a few days a week.
